Chief Operating Officer, Drug Discovery Services
Dr. Somesh Sharma serves as the Chief Operating Officer, Drug Discovery Services at Jubilant Biosys. In this role, he provides strategic and operational leadership across the integrated drug discovery value chain, driving business growth, operational excellence, scientific innovation, profitability, client delivery, and organizational capability development. He is also responsible for strengthening the integration and performance of key discovery functions, including Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, In Vivo Pharmacology, Analytical Sciences, Quality Assurance, and other enabling functions, while advancing future-ready technology platforms, emerging modalities, and digital capabilities.
With over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, Dr. Sharma has held leadership positions across renowned organizations including Ranbaxy, Piramal, Jubilant Biosys, Aragen, and Cohance. Prior to rejoining Jubilant Biosys, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Cohance, where he led the CDMO business spanning small molecules, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and oligonucleotide platforms. During his tenure, he established process engineering and safety platforms, built high-performing teams and capabilities, supported clinical and commercial product development and manufacturing, and successfully led the filing of three DMFs within nine months under the HPAPI commercial payload program.
A distinguished scientist and innovator, Dr. Sharma has been granted 25 patents and has authored 23 publications and 7 scientific articles, reflecting his significant contributions to pharmaceutical research and development.
His leadership, scientific acumen, and operational expertise continue to play a pivotal role in advancing Jubilant Biosys’ mission of accelerating innovation and delivering high-quality drug discovery solutions to global partners.
