Dr. V. N. Viswanadhan,
Director and Head of Computational Chemistry
Dr. Viswanadhan has had
extensive experience (over 25 years) in molecular modeling
and drug design in pharmaceutical industry. He obtained
his Ph. D. in molecular biophysics at University Madras in
1983 and post-doctoral work at Texas A&M University and
University of Akron (USA). He worked as a scientist at
National Cancer Institute, Bethesda (USA) prior to working
in the pharmaceutical industry. His research at Amgen and
Gensia-Psicor focused on rational drug design and
molecular modeling, supporting pre-clinical drug
discovery. He is the author or co-author of over sixty
publications in the field of molecular modeling and
computational chemistry. He is the author of a widely
quoted book on combinatorial library design and holds
several patents in the area. His publications and patents
dealt drug discovery targets such as kinases, proteases,
hydroxylases and ion channel targets. Several of the
compounds he worked on are in advanced stages of
pre-clinical/clinical development. He is a member American
Chemical Society and a reviewer for ACS journals on all
aspects of pre-clinical drug discovery.
