Dr. Raman Govindarajan,
Sr. Vice President - Discovery Biology & Translational
Medicine
Dr. Raman Govindarajan has more
than 20 years of discovery and development experience that
spans across different therapeutic areas. Raman obtained
his Bachelors degree in Medicine & Surgery from Mysore
Medical College, trained as Internal Medicine and obtained
a PhD in Cell Biology from Bombay University, working at
Jaslok Hospital. He then carried out postdoctoral research
at Cornell University Medical College, New York. He has
worked with major pharmaceutical & research based
companies in the world, such as Unilever Research in India
and USA and Johnson & Johnson, Singapore. In Unilever he
worked on aging and pigmentation where he led global teams
to develop many successful technologies that were
eventually marketed. He is also a toxicologist and has
been an ASEAN senior expert in post-marketing
surveillance. Additionally, at Johnson and Johnson, he was
regional director for medical, scientific and regulatory
affairs for the Asia Pacific region. The areas of his
interest have been epithelial differentiation,
pigmentation, tumor initiation, apoptosis and protein
trafficking and natural product chemistry. He is the
author of three book chapters, has secured extramural
funding along with academic collaborators and was recently
a discussion leader at a Gordon Conference. He has over 24
filed patents, 25 peer reviewed publications and 42
conference papers to his name. At Jubilant he holds the
position of Senior Vice President – Development &
Translational Medicine and has the overall scientific
responsibility for all Discovery and Translational Biology
work within Jubilant Biosys.
