Dr. Bheemashankar A Kulkarni, Director - Medicinal Chemistry.

Dr.  Kulkarni  has  completed  his  PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Department of Bio-Organic chemistry, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Bombay, India and Postdoctoral Fellowship from University of Gent, Dept. of Organic Chemistry  Gent, Belgium, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology Medicinal Chemistry  Department,  Singapore,  University  of  Hawaii,  Department  of Chemistry,  Hawaii,  USA  and  Boston  University  Department of Chemistry, Boston, MA.

Dr. Kulkarni has sixteen (16) years of experience in the field of medicinal chemistry, varying from synthetic organic chemistry, including syntheses of complex natural products and combinatorial libraries. He has good expertise in  hit-to-lead  and  lead  optimization  efforts in infectious disease and oncology area. His experience also spreads to using combinatorial chemistry methods, design and validation of new reaction methodologies and conducting multi step synthesis.

Prior  to  joining  Jubilant Biosys, he was with Schering Plough, Medicinal Chemistry  department,  Cambridge,  MA.  Previously,  he  has  worked  with Millennium  Pharmaceuticals,  Drug  discovery department, Cambridge, MA and ViroPharma  Incorporated,  Drug  Discovery department, Exton, PA, in US. In India  he was associated with Tata Pharma Ltd, Bulk drug production, Bombay and  Hoechst  Pharmaceutical  (Aventis  India), Organic Chemistry Division, Bombay.

He has 6 patents, 21 publications and 16 presentations to his credit.
