Dr.Rajesh V Devraj - Senior Vice-President, Scientific and Portfolio Strategy Head of Medicinal Chemistry, Jubilant Discovery.
Dr.Rajesh V Devraj has completed his PhD Research in Medicinal and Organic Chemistry from University of Pittsburg. He subsequently pursued his Post Doctoral research under the guidance of Dr. Mark Cushman at the Purdue University for a couple of years.
During Rajesh's career span of sixteen (16) years, his professional and industry experience has witnessed his growth from a Senior Research Investigator with GD Searle at Monsanto Life Sciences to the position of Senior Director and Head of Global Chemical Biology Network Group and the Chair of Scientific Advisory Board for Immunology Chemistry and Research, at Pfizer Global Research and Development. Rajesh has an excellent track record of successful drug delivery , that encompass inventing, championing and leading program teams across discovery and early development that submitted a total of six (6) INDs. Two (2) candidates have demonstrated positive Phase 2 POC with excellent once a day PK profiles and safety margins. He is a highly experienced manager and an energetic drug discovery leader managing a large team and leading a portfolio of projects to Phase 2 POC.
At Pfizer (1998 - 2010), Rajesh was the overall scientific program team leader who invented, championed and led multi-functional teams across discovery and pre-clinical development that has brought forward multiple orally active candidates into clinical development in multiple therapeutic areas- OA/inflammatory pain, neuropathic pain, rheumatoid arthritis, COPD, liver fibrosis and CVMED indications, especially diabetes and related complications.
At Jubilant, Rajesh as the VP of Medicinal Chemistry will be responsible for all scientific and drug discovery medicinal chemistry aspects of the Integrated Drug Discovery unit and shall work closely with the Chemsys site-head for all medicinal chemistry interventions as part of the Drug Discovery initiative. He will be solely responsible for the Small Molecules Strategy and Outcomes in the Integrated Drug Discovery unit.
As VP of Strategy, he will be working very closely with the Global CEO, Integrated DDDS, CSO and the respective BU Heads and Function heads to develop and drive the Drug Discovery Portfolio Strategy across the integrated DDDS organization. Rajesh will be providing the scientific thought leadership for developing the scientific strategy of the organization in conjunction with the scientific leadership team.
Rajesh is also a member of the Executive Committee of Drug Discovery and Development Services Organization and will primarily be based out of the Bangalore office and will discharge his global responsibilities.
