Dr. Robert W Dougherty, Director and Head of Invitro Biology and HTS

Dr. Robert has rich experience of more than two decades in a broad range of screening technology as well as early lead generation portfolio of drug discovery and development experience in both large and small pharmaceutical and contract research industry environments. Dr. Robert obtained a PhD. in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA. Subsequently he did his Post-Doc from the same university and conducted his research involving the regulation of protein kinase C by lipid co-factors.

He has an immaculate track record of successful design, validation and implementation of a variety of cell-based and biochemical screening programs (with focus on high-throughput screening efforts), servicing multiple therapeutic areas involving a variety of neuroscience indications, mucosal pathophysiology, oncology, metabolic (osteoporosis, obesity) and inflammatory disease states. He is extremely accomplished in the design and management of studies required to identify candidate molecules and advance them to the clinical development stage.

Prior to joining to Jubilant Biosys, Dr. Robert was associated with Amphora Discovery Corp. as Associate Director of Cellular Discovery / Cellular Pharmacology for 4 years; Eli Lilly & Company as Principal Research Scientist from 2000 to 2004; around half a decade with Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. After completion of his PhD, he was associated with Duke University Medical Center as Assistant Medical Research Professor before joining Glaxo-Wellcome, Inc as Research Investigator in the Dept. of Endocrinology in 1989. In-between his graduation studies and PhD. he worked with Bio/dynamics Inc. and subsequently moved into academia in 1977.

Dr. Robert has one patent to his credit and two more patents are pending decisions; one book chapter and twenty-two publications.
