Product Profile
The MolSignTM database is a
comprehensive collection of disease marker
information from literature and peer
reviewed articles (1998-2005).
5750 potential biomarkers spanning
three major disease areas
Cancer:
5367 markers across 31 cancer types Arthritis: 636 markers across
rheumatoid, juvenile and osteoarthritis Diabetes: 421 markers covering type
II diabetes
Over 60,000 records and updated
every quarter.
Key
Functionality

The MolSignTM database is manually curated and quality checked, having
information from over 3000 articles
covering
Expression studies:
Gene/Protein regulation and expression
levels
Mutation: Polymorphism,
chromosomal aberrations, including
loss of heterozygosity and their
effect
Epigenetic and post-translational
modifications affecting function
Biomolecular interactions and the
role of inhibitors
Biomolecules covered include genes
& splice variants, proteins & isoforms,
metabolites, hormones, carbohydrates and
lipids.
Strict adherence to standard nomenclature
and controlled vocabulary makes it easy to
search. The database can be queried directly
by marker, disease and be combined with any
of the other fields available through the
interface. The reports are conveniently
linked to 19 public domain databases.
Technical Specification
The MolSignTM
is a highly robust web-based Java
application (requires Java Runtime
Environment (JRE) 1.4.2) with Oracle 9i as
the backend.
