Dr. Sriram Rajagopal,Vice President, Biology
Dr. Sriram Rajagopal has earned his PhD in Biochemistry from Anna University, Chennai and Post Doc experience from University of Washington, Seattle. Over the course of his 20 years professional career he has published 27 research publications and has been awarded 39 patents to his credit and has filed for 73 Patent Applications.
Dr. Sriram Rajagopal has spent the first eight years of his professional career, post his Post Doc, at MD Anderson Cancer Centre ay Houston, Texas where he joined as a Research Associate and later-on became an Instructor (junior faculty) at the center.
In 1998 he joined Dr Reddy's Lab in India. During his tenure at DRL, he was instrumental in programs which are currently in late pre-clinical stage development and discovered a novel analog of Andrographloide. He established nude / SCID breed and Xenograft models and development of cell culture laboratories for anti-cancer compound screening and set-up the Molecular Discovery Department for target based screening in various Therapeutic Areas. Dr. Rajagopal initiated MAPK target based oncology research by establishing Kinase platforms. At the time of moving out of DRL, he was the Research Director at the Molecular Discovery department.
Prior to joining us, he was associated with Orchid Research Laboratories ,Chennai as Sr. VP Biology and established the division of Biology at Orchid consisting of In vitro Biology, In vivo Pharmacology, DMPK, Pre-formulation, Toxicology and Animal House for New Drug Discovery set up. He was instrumental in the Merck-Orchid deal for Research collaborations in Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal drug Discovery and Development. He initiated target based drug Discovery at Orchid Research Laboratories.
He is an active member of American Association and Indian Association for Cancer Research.
